Steven's profile

Steven is the protagonist. He's like that Chumbawamba song, only he whines a lot more about always getting knocked down again before getting back up. He likes to end sentences in prepositions. He recently got himself an English degree from a prestigious university, and only now is realizing a) he didn't really learn anything during those four years of school except that "flammable" and "inflammable" mean the same thing and b) his degree is pretty much worthless in terms of making him more appealing to potential employers. Middle school ruined his life. He's single, but not from lack of trying or wanting, which makes him being single all the more depressing and sad to look at. He's roommates with Nick.

Nick profile

Nick is a side character. He isn't very photogenic. His hobbies include shuffleboard and making pictures out of those colored plastic bead things you melt together after organizing them on the peg board. He has an on/off girlfriend he's been dating for most of his adult life. He's more practical, rational, and pessimistic than his roommate. He's also messier.

the comic

Nightshift Steven started as a series of comics I drew when I was bored during a two year theological study among the indigenous peoples of northern Brazil I did a while back. Later I worked at an alarm company call center during the nightshift from 5pm to 2am. No one ever called, so I would mess around with MS Paint. Now I draw them for fun and because it's easier to do than talking to real people.

FAQ's

-Is there a God?
Maybe. Probably. I hope so.

-Why am I here?
Because you clicked the "about/faq" link. Also because your parents wanted a kid. Or maybe they didn't, but they sure as heck got you anyway.

-Can snails really sleep for three years?
They can! Isn't that crazy? Can you imagine how bad they have to go to the bathroom when they wake up?

-Could the layout of this page be improved upon?
Significantly.
